Vol. VI. October, 2007 Issue 8.
Captains Column
The Year is quickly winding down. Here it is October already and we only have one reenactment left for the season. First, however, I would like to review the activities for the month of September. The weekend of the 8th and 9th was the September Storm/Antietam Reenactment at Boonsboro, Maryland. Those in attendance include Wes Catlett, Travis Clements, David Gammon, Matt Gammon, and Ryan Hughes. Bill Ward fell in with us on Sunday morning. We formed up with the 47th Virginia commanded by Captain Bill Russell of Longstreets Corp.
While the organization of the event was somewhat lacking according to the standards to which we have become accustomed, the actual battles we very nicely done. We participated in the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning battles. There was a Saturday night/dusk battle that we decided not to take part in and instead we had our church service since we would not be able to have it on Sunday morning. Even though our numbers were relatively low, I think everyone had a good time. With the Sunday morning battle being as early as it was we were on our way home by 10 am.
Kudos go to everyone who helped out with Field Day of the Past in Goochland the weekend of September 21st -23rd. For a while I thought that we may have to cancel our participation in the event but you guys really came through. David Gammon, Wes Catlett and Nate Pate were there pretty much the entire three days. Many thanks go to Nate for making a very nice F company recruiting poster. Tom Stafford helped with the setup on Friday and Travis Clements made an appearance on Saturday. Thanks again guys. You really came through.
For October, we have Cedar Creek coming up on the 20th and 21st. This is always a good event. We will be forming up with Longstreets Corp and Skip Schirmers new unit will be falling in with us. Our numbers therefore will be decent so we should be able to be our own company.
On Thursday October 11th, at 5:30pm we will be doing another living history program at the Midlothian Campus of John Tyler Community College. We have done this a couple of times before. Its only for about an hour and we will be firing our muskets. If you can help out with this please let us know. Remember, F Company can only be as good as you want us to be. Please support our Unit.
As always, keep our soldiers in your prayers. Until Next Time!

Gentlemen,
October is upon us and we have several things going on. First is our living history program for the history class at John Tyler Community College. It is on Thursday, October 11th at 5:30 P.M., at their Midlothian campus. It is only about a two hour demo and there will be an artillery unit there with us this time. If you can help out with this please let me know and bring about ten rounds. This event could produce new recruits so we'll take all the help we can get. Directions will follow.
Next is Cedar Creek on October 20th and 21st. I have the following people signed up: (Turley, Stafford, Gammon D., Firth, Hughes, Gammon M., Clements, Dachos, Pate, Vice). Please be there by 8:30 A.M., if possible and bring about 80 rounds. Directions will follow.
In November we have the Gettysburg parade on the 17th and the civil war show on the 17th and 18th in Richmond. I need to know who is interested in either of these events. If we have anyone who is not planning on going to Gettysburg but wouldn't mind working the show on Saturday please let me know. I plan to work the show on Sunday and Mr. Catlett has offered to do the same. We will take all the extra help we can get.
I really would appreciate some responses from you guys either way. It really is difficult to plan these things when I get no word one way or the other. We need everybody's support if we are going to build this unit up. Let's remember our Confederate ancestors and the reason we do this in the first place. Let's get out there and preserve their legacies and make them proud. Society is trying everyday to take away our heritage and I don't plan to go down without a fight. Who'll join me?
Respectfully,
1st Sgt. Gammon
