Commander’s Column

Gentleman, I will not dwell on what has happened since September 11, 2001.  Enough has been said by far more learned people than I, and you all know me well enough.  This is a family newsletter and I cannot express the feelings toward America’s enemies.  All I can say is boy they are going to get it back ten times worst.  We will get back to our lives, though changed forever.  That is enough.

The Explore Park event is a bust.  Enjoy your free weekend.

Cedar Creek is the next company event.  As always this is a good event, usually just cool enough for wool uniforms.  Jackson’s Division will be there as usual rounding out the event.

Fort Branch road trip

Another good time is coming down the road.  What else could you ask for in an event?  A small event, great place to stay, warm and dry, and good food all around.  A definite not to miss, not for the event but all the other stuff we do.

Annual Soirée

The annual soirée is coming soon.  The date on the invitation is incorrect the Soriee is on the 17th.  You have your invite now, please get your money in as soon as you can, the earlier the better to get the best deal.  It is always a good time.  I am really looking forward to this year’s soirée.  Mr. Alexander will have to outdo his past year’s performance and that is a feat in itself.   Please remember if you want to stay at the Inn, of which I highly recommend, as for the corporate rate and book early, they only have so many rooms.  Mrs. Capt. Jones and I will have to corporate suite again, so plan to stop by afterwards.

Gettysburg Firing Program

Good Evening Capn,

I just wanted to send you an e-mail to let you know that...despite the underwhelming attendance of the members of F-Company, we performed, entertained many questions, and satisfied the needs of both the Gettysburg National Park and the public who traveled great distances.  As in all events, both large and small, I personally enjoyed the weekend and thoroughly appreciated the support of:

Mr. Firth, Mr. Turley, Mr Vice, Mr. Perry, Mr. Perry, and last but not least...Phil Pierce.  Due to a date discrepancy...there were only 4 of us in attendance on Sunday.  Thanks to the addition of:

Mr. Hadden, Mr. Haas, and last but not least, Mr. Warner from the 4th N.C., we managed to have a comrade in arms for Sunday's program, but we knocked them dead.

But most of all, I wish to personally thank the Edenton boys for going the extra "MILES" to help in supporting the unit.  They always come through, and I don't take that for granted.

I will be pretending to be a film star for the next three weekends near Sharpsburg, MD, but I am mostly anticipating and gearing up for the Cedar Creek event.  Thank God my wife is so supportive.  Without her positive attitude, I'd probably be sitting at home and wishing I was with the guys.  But, fortunately, that has not been the issue at my homestead.  At any rate, I hope the members of the 21st Va/F-Company can pull through for Cedar Creek.  I'd almost give my left testi-well almost give it, to see a good turn out for that, but not all of us has the luxury that I have.  For those members who have been flip-flopping about going, well, I just hope they can make it.  Besides, Lt. Turley won't be able to eat all the mutant sausage that I plan on bringing. ****Censored****  Always aiming to please.  I will not be taking off the Friday of Cedar Creek, so I won't be getting there until either late Friday or early...early...Saturday.  So, if anyone plans on getting there early, save me a thorn tree or one of those monkey brains.  See all is took was one weekend in the woods, and I'm already starting to feel better about life than I did on Sept. 11th...but I've still got a long ways to go.

Anyway, Capn.........you're more than welcomed to forward this to all the members in the unit.  I just needed to let everyone know that I'm still out there and raring to tackle any pile of wood.
