Vol. VI. March, 2007 Issue 2.
Captain
’s ColumnGentlemen
The 2007 reenactment season is officially under way. Even though we haven’t put on our uniforms yet we did have our Annual Meeting on Saturday, 17 of February at the American Civil War Center at Tredegar. I would like to thank everyone who attended. We had a good turn out. In addition, I would like to welcome our newest recruit Roger Mitchell. He is brought to us by way of Ryan Hughes and his co-workers.
I would also like to thank Adam Scher, the director of the American Civil War Center at Tredegar. Adam graciously allowed us to use the conference room. He also supplied us with coffee, drinks, and snacks. This is the second time we have been allowed to use this room. I hope we will some what repay them with a good turn out at Richmond Civil War Days.
The highlight of the meeting was our guest speakers. We were honored and privileged to have two of the founder’s members of F Company come to speak to us. They were Floyd Bayne, the original Captain of F Company, and Bob Wilburn, the original Lieutenant who succeeded Floyd as Captain. It was probably more meaningful to the old-timers (term of endearment Jack, Eldridge, Mike, and myself) to have them there, but I think they did a good job of conveying to everyone the importance of what we do and being the best we can at it. After the meeting we went to Bottoms Up Pizza for a late lunch. A good time was had by all.
Next up we actually get to put on our uniforms. The Camp of Instruction is scheduled for the weekend of March 23-25. This is the time to bone-up, or learn for the first time, company drill, firings, camp life, and all aspects of reenacting. Please try to attend even if you did not sign up on the event sign-up sheet. Hopefully we will have good weather for the weekend. Look for directions elsewhere in the newsletter. In this issue of the newsletter you will also find the event schedule for 2007. It looks to be shaping up to be a pretty good year. Please make every effort to at least attend the events for which you signed up. F Company can only be as good as you are willing to make it become. I will see everyone at Camp of Instruction.
Respectfully submitted Captain T. Turley

’s ReportGentlemen
Well a new season is upon us once again. It looks like we will be engaged in a nice variety of Events. We had a nice turnout for the Annual Meeting. We also had some special quests at our meeting. Two of F Companies former Captains, Floyd Bayne and Bob Wilburn spoke to us about the origin of the Company and it's traditions. I believe that the members were truly inspired by their comments. I believe that a lot of business was conducted and that we all are looking forward to the COI.
I would like to congratulate the members who were elected to their Executive Committee positions. I would also like to thank Mr. Vice on accepting the position of Chairman of the Uniform Committee. I would like to thank the membership for electing myself to the position of Vice President. I hope that I will perform my duties as well as our previous Vice President. I look forward to seeing y'all at the COI and having a productive weekend. I do hope that I will see many of the members during our upcoming season. Remember, that we are only as good as we conduct ourselves, on and off the field.
I believe that we have the finest group in the field and I am proud to be a member. Please remember our servicemen and women overseas. May GOD be with them, and their families. May GOD watch over them and protect them always!
Respectfully
Lt. Stafford

Gentlemen,
As you know, the C.O.I. is fast approaching. It will be the weekend of March 24th and 25th at Dewberry Farm in Hanover County, Virginia. Directions will follow in the newsletter. I need to know who will be coming Friday evening and who will be coming Saturday morning. If you will be coming on Saturday you will need to be in camp by 6:45 A.M. and roll call will be at 7:00 A.M. Breakfast preparation will begin immediately following roll call. Please bring some one-dollar bills, as we will be dividing up the cost of the weekend rations. The rations will take care of Saturday and Sunday's breakfast and Saturday's dinner, lunches on both days will consist of whatever you bring in your haversacks. If anyone has a frying pan you could bring it would be most helpful.
We will be doing our live firing exercise on Saturday afternoon, so if anyone has a staple gun please bring it along. We will also need to bring about 25 blank cartridges for loading and firing drills. Please bring whatever supplies you will need to stay warm including sleeping bags or blankets. This is the one event every year that we are able to do this. We will have straw for bedding thanks to Mr. Pate and his trailer and there will be water and firewood. Don't forget to bring some musket cleaning supplies and percussion caps. Parking will be very close to camp so you should not have to worry about packing your gear for a long march to camp. I am looking forward to a very productive camp this year. We need to get that F Co. shine back. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.
P.S. I will also need to get an event sheet from anyone who has not turned one in. Please don't make me beg, it's not a pretty site.
Respectfully,
1st Sgt. Gammon
