Vol. VI. June 2007 Issue 5.

Captains Column

Compared to April, things did slow down for F Company during the month of May. We had only one event on the schedule. That was New Market and it was our first battle reenactment of the year. Those in attendance included Lt. Stafford, 1st Sgt. Gammon, Cpl. Hughes and Privates Pate and Wilson. Thanks to the Lieutenant for falling in as a private as our numbers were rather small.

We had battles on both Saturday and Sunday, as is the norm. Saturday we were deployed as skirmishers under the direction of Major Ramsey. We fought bravely in both battles but ended up as casualties on both occasions. It was good to get away for the weekend and spend some quality time with my F Company "pards". The Weather was great and it is always beautiful in the Valley of Virginia. To those of you who could not make it, you were missed.

Coming up in June we have the Cold Harbor Living history. By the time you read this, it will be over. This is usually well attended. I hope to see some people that we haven’t seen in a while. More on this event in the next newsletter.

We do have two events in a row with the second one being Dixie Days in Hanover County. This will be out first time there and from what I hear it has turned into a big event.

Don’t forget to keep our soldiers in your prayers especially Kim Stafford and Jonathan Alexander. Jonathan is back in the states now and is spending some quality time with his family.

I hope to see everyone out in the field!

Respectfully Submitted,

Captain Tony Lee Turley

1st Sergeant’s Report

  Gentlemen,

The month of May has come and gone and so have a couple of events. We had New Market and Cold Harbor. Attendance was down a bit for New Market, but was better for Cold Harbor. I would again beseech everyone who signs up for events to do their best to make it if possible, and if circumstances prevent you from making it please let us know as far in advance as you can. Saturday at Cold Harbor was a great day and the candlelight tour was again a huge success. We spent the night only to awake to rain on Sunday morning, which cancelled the day’s festivities.

Next up we have Gettysburg on July 7th and 8th. Here is what I have registered for this one: (Turley, Stafford, Gammon D., Firth, Hughes, Gammon M., Mitchell, Pate, Vice and Ward). More information and directions will follow. If we don't get them in this newsletter, we will send them out in another announcement later.

I also would like to let everyone know that Jonathan Alexander is back home in the states and I would like to say welcome home and THANK YOU Jonathan for your service to our country!!! Jack went to pick him up on Friday June 1st and I want everyone to know that on his way, he stopped by Cold Harbor and left us a present under the tarp with our firewood. It was a cooler full of ice-cold root beer. What a fantastic surprise. Thanks Jack, you're the man. We made a toast to you Saturday night and to Jonathan’s safe return.

I would also like to thank my wife Tammy who came out to Cold Harbor this weekend to bring us dinner on Saturday evening. It was wonderful and the sweet tea was a big hit.

On a sadder note, I would like to extend mine and F Co's sympathies to Heather and Nate Pate and their family for the tragic loss of Heather's Grandmother on Thursday, May 31st. They were out of town this weekend for the funeral. We missed you buddy.

Respectfully,

1st Sgt. Gammon

Gettysburg

Gettysburg is fast approaching and I need to get some feedback from everyone who is registered. I would like to know who is still planning to attend so we don't go all the way up there with 3 or 4 people. The following people are registered (Turley, Stafford, Gammon D., Firth, Hughes, Gammon M., Mitchell, Pate, Vice, and Ward). Mr. Ward and Mr. Vice have already contacted me. Thank you, Gentlemen. Mr. Vice will not be able to attend, so there is one opening as of now. If anyone who was not registered would like to attend, here's your chance. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE ALREADY REGISTERED WITH YOUR INTENTIONS, AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FILL THE VACANCY, PLEASE CONTACT ME AS WELL.

Please try to arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 A.M. and bring 80 -100 rounds as there will be two battles on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Thank You,

1st Sgt. Gammon
