Vol. X. January, 2011 Issue 1.

Captain’s Column

Gentlemen,

Welcome to 2011. I want to thank everyone who took the time to fill out and mail back the surveys. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I also appreciate the comments and suggestions. They were very informative and insightful.

The big event for February is our annual business meeting. This will be on Saturday, February 19th at the Ashland Church of God in Ashland, Virginia. This is the same site as last year. Directions are included later in the news letter. We will begin at 10:00A.M. and should be finished by 2:00P.M. if not before, plan on going out to eat after the meeting.

Important dates for the month of March include a work day at the fort in preparation for the COI and the actual Camp of Instruction itself. The dates for the COI are Friday, March 25th – Sunday, March 27th with a rain date of April 1st – 3rd if needed. The fort work day will be 0900 Saturday, March 5th with a rain date of March 12th. Please make plans to be at all of these activities as they lay the basis for a successful reenactment season, from electing officers and determining the schedule at the business meeting to the all important drill, marching, and camp-life at the Camp of Instruction. Hope to see you there.

Respectfully Submitted,

Captain Turley

Gentlemen,

It's that time again! No, not Super Bowl Sunday. It is time to get another season of reenacting off and running. This year marks the beginning of the 150th anniversary events. Please make every effort to rally around Captain Turley and F Company and lets make this a fantastic year.

Our annual meeting will be held on February 19th. Directions will follow in the newsletter. The meeting will be from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., but you can arrive early if you would like to purchase something from the company inventory. The inventory will be available by 9:00 A.M.. Please plan to pay your 2011 dues and reimbursements for missed 2010 events at the meeting. Recent new recruits may already be paid for 2011 if you joined since the November show. There is going to be an event sign up sheet to fill out. The possible events will be discussed, and officers elected for 2011. I have included several new events for consideration this year, so don't miss this meeting. We will be going out for a late lunch/early dinner after the meeting.

A tentative date of March 5th has been set for a fort work day to prepare the fort for camp of instruction. Camp of instruction will be March 25th, 26th, and 27th, with a rain date of April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It is of the utmost importance that you attend camp.
