Vol. VII. February, 2008 Issue 1.
Captains Column
I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Now that things are slowly getting back to normal,
it is time to turn our attention to the 2008 Reenactment Season.
Our Annual Business Meeting is scheduled for
February 16th in the Fellowship Hall of Clover Hill Baptist Church off of
Please plan to attend the meeting. Officers will be elected and the schedule will be
discussed for this year. Come prepared to
offer suggestions as to what you would like us to do this year. Please remember that suggestions without actions
are just empty words.
F Company can only be as good as our members will
allow us to be. By that I am referring to the
participation level of each member. Right now
our numbers are relatively small so that makes YOUR participation that much more
important. Please resolve to do what you can
for F Company. Ask not what F Company can do
for you but what you can do for F Company.
Coming up before the Annual Meeting is the Richmond
Antique and Civil War Spectacular in Mechanicsville at the Showplace. It is scheduled for the weekend of January 26th
and 27th and F Company will be there. However,
by the time this newsletter is published, the show will be over. I would like to thank everyone who helped
especially Jack who came in from out of town.
Thats it for now. Im looking forward to seeing everyone at the
Annual Meeting. Remember our troops overseas
in your prayers. See you soon!
Your Captain,
Tony Turley

Gentlemen,
I am looking forward to seeing yall at
our annual meeting. I am also looking forward to this season of reenacting and living
history events. I have not been in the newsletters much this past year, but fear not I
will remedy that this year. I have been asked to help establish a Muster Committee. I will
elaborate more at the Annual Meeting. I hope to see all of our F Company members and
persons interested in our group at the Annual Meeting. If you were with the Company in the
past and you would like to rejoin us, dont hesitate to come to the Annual Meeting!
Respectfully,

Suggestions for
Reenacting
Although the company is commanded by
the Captain and coordinated by the Lieutenant, the First Sergeant is in control. Be at formation a couple of minutes early. When you see the First Sergeant put on his
equipment, get yours on as soon as possible. The
company runs on First Sergeants watch and none other.
If you do not have First Sergeant time, you are wrong. Whatever the orders, do exactly what the First
Sergeant says. Right or wrong, anything
different makes you wrong. This
may sound hard to do, but it is not at all. You
definitely learn how to be a true soldier of the period, which will only enhance your
experience.
Do Not salute the First Sergeant; he works for a living.
Do Not
take any comments personally that are made to you by the officers, as they may see a
safety issue or show you that you are doing something wrong. Do Not take it personally!
Dry socks are one of the
many luxuries of re-enacting. An extra pair
is invaluable once the originals get wet.
Live as lean as you can
and adjust it up as you get used to it. This
is in regard to the extra stuff you carry.
