Captain
s ColumnI would like to begin by thanking everyone who helped with the Civil War show at RIR. It had been a long time since we had a presence at this show. Thanks to Tom Stafford and David Gammon for setting it up and getting us there. Thanks to the following who helped man our tables. They included David and Matt Gammon, Bob Baird, Jon Dachos, Ryan Hughes, and Eldridge Firth.
Next I would like to thank all who came to our end of the year meeting on Saturday, December 2. Those in attendance were Jack Alexander, Tom Stafford, David Gammon, Matt Gammon, Ryan Hughes, Wes Catlett, Marc Ramsey, Jon Dachos, Bill Ward, and Travis Clements. We met at the new American Civil War Museum at Tredegar. We reviewed the events of the past season, talked about possible events for next year, and filled vacancies in leadership positions. The executive committee made the following appointments:
Tony Turley Captain
Tom Stafford 1st Lieutenant
David Gammon 1st Sergeant
Ryan Hughes Member-at-large
Jack Alexander Treasurer
Ryan Hughes and Matt Gammon were appointed First and Second Corporals. Platoon assignments are listed below in the 1st sergeants report. The committees, uniform / Inventory and Recruiting will be revamped. If any of the membership would like to volunteer for a committee or help in some capacity please let that be known. It would be greatly appreciated. For example, we need someone to relieve David Gammon from Quartermaster Duties, if you can help please do.
The meeting was followed by a tour of Hollywood Cemetery conducted by our very own Hollywood Cemetery expert, Bill Ward. He offered a unique tour of the cemetery from an F Company perspective. He pointed out any thing that had a Company F connection. We had a special guest for the tour former Captain Ken Jones and his son, Tim. It was great to see and visit with them. There is so much to see at Hollywood that it is impossible to tour the grounds in one afternoon. Bill did a good job in wrapping it up around 3 oclock but there is plenty more to see in a future tour / muster. Thanks to Bill for doing such a fantastic job and God Bless him for the work he does with the gravestones.
We now have a bit of a break for the Holidays and before our next meeting in February. I hope you will take time to reflect on this past season and how we can improve our impression, get more recruits, and make F Company even better. Please enjoy the holidays. Remember to keep Christ in Christmas. I also want to welcome Ken Norman home from Iraq. I hope he is adjusting well to life back in the states. God bless our troops and keep them safe especially Jacks son Jonathan, and Toms daughter. Please note: The next newsletter will be a January / February newsletter coming out towards the end of January. The next major event coming up is the annual meeting and any possible recruiting opportunities that we may not know about yet. If anything of importance comes up before then you will be contacted via E-mail or by phone.
Marry Christmas! Happy New Year! Be safe and see you all soon. God Bless!
Respectfully submitted,
Captain Tony Turley
1st Lieutenant
s ReportI would like to thank everyone that helped out at the Civil War Show. We got a chance to do some recruiting before the end of the year. I am sure that the Company will be attending some more of these events in the coming year. So, let's all try and make an effort to attend some of these upcoming shows to help our recruiting efforts.
We had our end of the year meeting just recently, and I believed that we accomplished quite a bit. We missed our members that were unable to attend, but fear not .The executive Committee has filled the open positions on the Committee. These positions are on an interim basis until we have our Annual Meeting in February to vote. The Committee has also chosen a 1st and 2nd Corporals. The new positions are as follows: Captain (Tony Turley), 1st LT (Tom Stafford), 1st Sgt (David Gammon), Treasurer (Jack Alexander), Member at Large (Ryan Hughes). Our new 1st Corporal is Ryan Hughes and 2nd Corporal is Matt Gammon. Your new Corporals will be in contact with you soon to keep you updated on when and where our Annual Meeting will take place.
We also discussed briefly some of the Events that are coming up for next year. We will discuss these events in more detail and vote on them and any others that you may run across at our Meeting in February 2007 Meeting. The Executive Committee will be readjusting our present Committee's because of position changes (Recruiting, Uniform, Quartermaster). If anyone is interested in helping out please contact any of your Committee members. In closing I would personally like to thank Bill Ward for giving us a splendid tour of the Hollywood Cemetery after our Meeting. Bill has done a great job on restoring, and placing headstones for members of F Company and other Confederate units that probably would never have any if not for his efforts. Because of the large area of the Cemetery will were not able to see all of it. So this sounds like an opportunity to have another Muster at the Cemetery in the future.
I would like to welcome back Ken Norman, and thank him and his family for their service to our country. I would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas. Please, never forget our servicemen and servicewomen who are serving our great country of ours. May God Bless Them and their families and keep them safe. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Respectfully,
Lt. Stafford

Your Corporals will be contacting you during the next few months leading up to our February meeting. I would ask that once we vote on events and decide who is attending what events that you please stay in touch with your Corporals and keep them up to date on your events intentions each month even if nothing changes. They are both taking on a new responsibility and I have the utmost faith in both of them that they will do a fantastic job.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bill Ward for his fantastic guided tour of Hollywood Cemetery after the meeting on the 2nd. I apologize for having to leave early. My water pump on my truck had other plans. I was able to get it replaced but I regret having to miss the end of the tour. I can say that I have been on Bills tour before and he does an outstanding job. There are so many stories that Bill is able to share with us that the tombstones just cant tell. Thanks so much once again Bill.
It was also good to hear that Ken Norman has returned home safely from Iraq. Welcome home Ken and we hope to see you sometime soon. We still need to keep all of our service men and women in our thoughts and prayers, especially Jonathan Alexander and Lt. Staffords daughter Kim.
If anyone has any questions or concerns during the off-season, please feel free to contact me.
Respectfully Submitted,
1st Sgt. David Gammon
